Project Meeting in Frechen, Germany
A week full of unforgettable emotions and wonderful moments - 20/09/2024 - 27/09/2024
Our last project meeting was hosted by Nell-Breuning-Berufskolleg, Frechen, coordinated by Mr. Gerrit Kolbe and Mr. Marc Hempel.
The Bulgarian and the Hungarian teams were warmly welcomed by the coordinators, the students and the principal. The participants were divided into five international working groups to summarise what they have done during these two years and together to create a Reader containing information about our Erasmus + experience on fake news, mental health and disinformation.
The international group enjoyed a guided tour in Cologne - St. Peter's Cathedral, the third tallest in the world, the panoramic view of the city and the Rhine.
The next day was devoted to deepening students' understanding of European Union on a practical level. As a vital part of our mobility purposes we had an exciting study trip to Brussels and we visited the European Parliament.
On Wednesday and Thursday the participants were at school again and the educational trip to Brussels gave the students new ideas for the Reader they were working on and contributed to more interactive and interesting students' outcomes.
Students debated on their Erasmus experience in groups, enriched their communication skills, skills for constructive problem solving, presentation skills and created the Reader. They shared and compared different ideas, enriched and exchanged experience, knowledge, skills and competencies with their partners. The workshops took place in a format that was intriguing and fascinating and engaged them in inspiring discussions, both professionally and personally. The participants debated in details on media literacy, mental health, fake news and disinformation. These two years had a great added value to the students' personal and professional development. They enjoyed the European Experience Museum in Vienna, where they familiarized themselves with the history, culture, and institutions of the European Union then they visited the European Parliament in Brussels and learnt about the current issues, were invited to the City Hall by the mayor of Plovdiv. The students had the opportunity to prepare provocative questions and talk to the chief editor of hvg.hu in Budapest and marica.bg in Plovdiv. It was our pleasure to learn about the history of the newspapers, to learn how the information is created and checked, what is false and fake news, how it is created and why it is a must to be responsible creators of information.
The Competence Measurement Tool was used to determine the achieved results.
The week ended so quickly. It is true that time flies when you are with lovely people. The students completed the Reader successfully and received their certificates.
THANK YOU!

Additionally, participants had the opportunity to visit the European Experience Museum in Vienna, where they familiarized themselves with the history, culture, and institutions of the European Union. This interactive exchange of experiences and ideas encouraged youth to actively engage in the European process and become agents of change in their schools.
The international meeting in Budapest was not only an opportunity for training and skill development but also for building long-term relationships and partnerships among youth from different European countries. It underscored the importance of intercultural dialogue and solidarity in the pursuit of a common "European Future."

On Thursday we held the final workshop. The students worked in groups in order to plan a day in Budapest and they were observed by the teachers who gave them feedback according to the Competence Measurement Tool. The last activity was to prepare questions as we visited the newsroom of the biggest media in Plovdiv. Marica News & Media publishes marica.bg, the leading South Bulgaria newspaper websites. Our group was warmly welcomed and all our questions were answered. It was our pleasure to learn about the history of the newspaper, to learn how the information is created and checked, what is false and fake news, how it is created and why it is a must to be responsible creators of information.
All participants received their certificates and we celebrated the results of our mutual work.
On Friday the coordinators planned the next steps. The feedback of our students will help us improve the next mobility.
The international meeting was interesting, exciting, fruitful and full of positive emotions. The teams worked with inexhaustible creative energy. The week ended so quickly.
